Julia’s Vintage Santa from the 2009 Swap.  Isn’t he charming?  I have a few more holiday cards to post from last year, and then when all my swaps get to their destinations this year, I will post the 2010 Christmas ATCs I have been working on.  I think I have enough to say Merry Christmas all next week with a different image each day.  We have snow and ice now, so I am getting into the spirit more and more.

My ATC for a swap with a Vintage Santa theme.  For this one I stuck with the more traditional red and green theme. Seasons greetings to all of you who have seen my blog and thanks for your lovely comments.  I am determined in 2010 to get the hang of this thing so poor Pam doesn’t always have to insert the pictures.  Thanks, Pam!

Every Christmas needs a little pink, don’t you think?  When I saw this little sweetie, I knew she would be perfect for the “Christmas Cuties” swap.  I flocked her absurd little hat and bow to look like pink velvet, and added pink velvet ribbon across the bottom edge.

This month’s WTA winner asked for holiday themed ATCs “including Madonna (not the singer)”–that made me laugh and I decided to see if I could make a non-musical Madonna ATC. It is hard to see on the scan but the edges have been foiled with a gold and greenish patina, and I went nuts on the rhinestones. Just trying to make it look “old.” What do you think?

I am definitely in the Christmas mode–at least for ATCs.  Here is the first of many Christmas-themed ATCs that are due for swaps in the next few weeks.  This one is for our local swap group’s mail swap with a theme of, yes, you guessed it, Christmas!  I have loved this image for a while but was never quite sure what to do with it, and it finally occurred to me that the image was so complete and busy that it was better to keep everything else simple.  Of course, I had to add glitter–can’t forget the glitz and bling, you know.

…like Christmas!  Well, actually, it is November 21st and I was outside today with no jacket and sandals, so go figure.  I have been working for a week on my November ATCs for the year-long swap and had this whole autumn paper-piecing thing going but I just couldn’t make it work,  so I changed everything and went straight to Christmas, do not stop-go at turkey day.  I guess I was just ready to dive into Christmas–good thing, I have signed up or committed to SIX swaps due in December. I may need to be committed!

This ATC was made as a hostess gift for a year-long swap.  I have been trying to  “challenge” myself by grabbing a handul of papers and images from my overflowing discard pile and making a card just from what I grab.  I can add bling and words later.  This was the first one I made and I obviously reached the pink roses layer.  The wings are neat stickers from the Victorian sticker company, and I added those later too.  Thanks for looking.

Hurrah!

Hurrah!

My last of four vintage children swapped with Michelle.  He was so cute that I made some more of this card and used him for another swap too.  Very patriotic, don’t you think?

The Dearest Child

The Dearest Child

Another vintage child from my swap with Michelle.  My sister and I had the most fun one day this summer just playing at her kitchen table–we were each supposed to bring only one flat box of whatever paper and images and embellishments we wanted and then we were going to make ATCs.  Well, we started with one box, but Julia kept having to go upstairs to get “just one more thing” that might be the perfect item or color or spark that would make the cards fabulous (and I admit I sent her half the time with “Do you have…” inquiries.)  Of course we ended up with a kitchen overflowing with stuff–oh wait, make that art supplies.  We had a blast, but I was glad it was her house.  Of course I don’t have stairs so we might have been OK here, too.  Anyway, we are definitely going to do it again soon.  We got the idea from Pam’s shoe box card group, but it was more like pizza box ATCs for us.  So here is one of the slices…

Walter and Malvina

Walter and Malvina

I got an e-mail from an artist from a Yahoo group I joined who wanted to do a small one to one swap, and we decided on the theme of vintage children.  This is one of my ATCs for that swap.  The image isn’t very clear because I am still scanning instead of photographing, but I hope you can get the general idea.  I cut words for my ATCs from this one old large-type book  with characters named Walter and Malvina, and the names seemed to fit these old-fashioned sweeties.
