The Dearest Child

The Dearest Child

Another vintage child from my swap with Michelle.  My sister and I had the most fun one day this summer just playing at her kitchen table–we were each supposed to bring only one flat box of whatever paper and images and embellishments we wanted and then we were going to make ATCs.  Well, we started with one box, but Julia kept having to go upstairs to get “just one more thing” that might be the perfect item or color or spark that would make the cards fabulous (and I admit I sent her half the time with “Do you have…” inquiries.)  Of course we ended up with a kitchen overflowing with stuff–oh wait, make that art supplies.  We had a blast, but I was glad it was her house.  Of course I don’t have stairs so we might have been OK here, too.  Anyway, we are definitely going to do it again soon.  We got the idea from Pam’s shoe box card group, but it was more like pizza box ATCs for us.  So here is one of the slices…

Walter and Malvina

Walter and Malvina

I got an e-mail from an artist from a Yahoo group I joined who wanted to do a small one to one swap, and we decided on the theme of vintage children.  This is one of my ATCs for that swap.  The image isn’t very clear because I am still scanning instead of photographing, but I hope you can get the general idea.  I cut words for my ATCs from this one old large-type book  with characters named Walter and Malvina, and the names seemed to fit these old-fashioned sweeties.

If I Can Make It There

If I Can Make It There

Once I use one image from one of my collage sheets, I have started cutting the rest of the images out and stashing them in this clear box, and then pawing through them to find inspiration.  The New York background and the dancing girl ended up together in the pile and the idea just clicked!

The New Hat

The New Hat

More bits and bobs on this lovely lady’s hat.  She was my ATC in a lottery winner-take-all for a Yahoo group.  The winner chose Paris as one of her favorite themes, so I used a Paris background.  Who doesn’t love Paris!

Midnight In The Garden

Midnight In The Garden

My ATC for June for the year-long swap hosted by Kris.  I created the background playing around with spray glitz and inks, and it came out looking so mottled and mysterious that it seemed perfect for a midnight tryst theme. When I found this lady in red, I couldn’t resist her.

Cream Cake and Tea

Cream Cake and Tea

I have no idea how the entire summer slipped by without posting.   I just don’t have this blog thing down yet.  I so enjoy checking out the blogs of Pam and Kris and Carrie and Jan and I am always a little disappointed when there is nothing new (as if all my dear friends had to do was color and paste to entertain me).  So maybe I better apply that reasoning here too.  On the plus side, I made some fun ATCs  this summer so I can post for a while.  I hope you enjoy them.
