Memorial Day

Memorial Day

I have been sorting lately in my continuing attempt to get organized, and I keep finding things I didn’t even know I had.  This card was inspired by a package of real freeze-dried violets that I found, and it became this month’s entry for the year-long swap hosted by Kris.  I made them all the same this time.  It takes as long to design one card as it does to make the remainder of the cards for the swap.  I don’t think I am ever going to be one of those “whip it out” designers or artists.  I put the violets under a piece of mica, and this was my first time splitting and cutting mica sheets–I glittered for days!

More ATCs using the Cemerony collage sheet and three words from a book page.  Same copper pearls, same flowers, and lots of bits and pieces.  I could make ATCs endlessly using these wonderful images.

Just Be Yourself

Just Be Yourself

My offering to the winner of the “WTA” (Winner Take All) drawing for an on-line swap group.  I won in January and got some neat cards, and I have entered each month since.  I love this little girl; some days she expresses my mood exactly!

Memories of Mother

Memories of Mother

A swapping friend lost her mother recently, and when Mothers’ Day comes around,  I always think of my own dear Mom.  This image was well before our time, but I loved the sentiment.

Time Theme ATC Swap

Time Theme ATC Swap

Our local swap group’s theme for April was “Time” and I decided to challenge myself to make a Time ATC without using a clock.

May Basket

May Basket

I was in such a hurry to get this ATC to the swap hostess on time that I forgot to cover up the words printed on the original image.  I am pretty sure this was meant to be a Valentine image, but I thought she looked fresh and spring-like.  I had “May Basket” all printed and ready to apply and then poof! I completely forgot.  Uh oh, I better do another crossword puzzle.

My apologies for the blurry image but I used pearls and that dimension means it doesn’t scan very well. Pam has promised to teach me how to take pictures with my digital camera one of these days and that should help.

These Golden Days

These Golden Days

My blog skill set is so limited I don’t even know how to put images side by side, so you will have to scroll down a long way to see all nine of these ATCs.

For the first month of what is to be a year-long swap, I made nine different ATCs rather than nine exactly alike–it was a lot of fun.  The images all come from a  collage sheet from a fabulous Etsy shop, Cemerony.  To give the cards a similar theme, I used flowers and copper pearls on each one, and cut three words from a few pages of an old book from the $2 clearance section at Half-Price books.  (Look for old romance books–they have the best words!)

The rest was just bits and pieces–my newest thing, you know.  You can see the wonderful cards I received from the other swappers on Kris Dickinson’s (the hostess) blog at www.nostalgiccollage.blogspot.com .

Thanks for being so patient.

Asia

Asia

Our local swap has a special “one to one” swap each month, and I call this card the “onesie” just like those adorable baby outfits.  It is supposed to allow you to use something more exotic or unique on a card, when you may not have eight to share (the number we make for our regular mail swap).  This month the onesie theme was “Asia” and I made another card using leftovers.  I attached the coin (it may actually be Chinese so I am pretty sure I am mixing cultures here) using Zip-Dry glue. It seemed secure but I sure hope it stays in place until it arrives!
